Weekend Openner

4/30/2012

What an 2012 opener! Not often, if ever, will you be casting to surface feeding Brown & Rainbow trout this time of the year. Near Lake Michigan the weather is always cold with the NW wind. The key is to travel inland and the temperatures will be 20 degrees warmer. All things considered, the Pigeon River East of Indian River offered some great opportunities to catch trout. Hatches were in progress but mergers like the Brown Hackle Peacock  ( wet ) did the job. Rivers are low and clear for this time of year.
