The Most Beautiful Time of the Year

The hot weather...just won't quit. Today a rare 90 F for this time of the year is in the forecast. If only cool weather will arrive moisture usually comes with it. The drought conditions are becoming a concern. Although the river temperatures are a cool 60 F, the water levels are a problem.   The forecast is for cooler temps after today Thursday August 30th, so just maybe we can get on with Fall and return to good river levels of the last 3 years.
Trout have been active on a spotty basis and the salmon runs are knocking at the door. Use summer trout fishing techniques for this holiday week end...early morning or evening fishing...and then lets get ready for Fall and the Salmon runs. Flies are the typical for this time of year; Hoppers, BWO, Adams, Trudes, White Wulffs, Stimulators.
The big rivers...the Pigeon and the Sturgeon...still have good water levels but the Black river is on the edge and the Maple is stressed. Fall is this guides favorite time of the year to enjoy all northern Michigan's rivers..."Git ' er done"
