Well, it's all about the weather here now. The last few days have been unusually hot even during the night. The West branch of the Maple was 70F at 7:00 pm last night. Many hatches are early so we are using our typical June flies now; May flies 12-14, Drakes, Cahills - the lighter species.
Is your fly box ready for this weekend? The Brook Trout are very active. The lower reaches of the Maple, below the old power dam on Church road, remains cooler and the hatches are still Para Adams ( 14-16 ) or the same size stone flies. Fishing this area takes patience as the trout, Browns, Rainbows, & Brook, are large and wily.
It looks to be a beautiful Memorial day week end. We are to get some rain (on and off), warmth (mid 70's to 80's), and cool nights (upper 40's low 50"s). In other word a perfect fly fishing weekend.
