More rain to come this week and it's not that welcome but it's not that bad. The rain has knock down the pollen for us who have reactions to it and the farmers are welcoming these long light showers. It also set the stage with the warmers temps coming for some good hatches.
The Pigeon and the Sturgeon will be ready for fishing by tomorrow and Thursday and Friday look even better. The Black River will still have some issues and need another day or two to improve because of the dark tannin. The same is true of the Maple River. Both of these river waters come from cedar wetlands and springs and the roots of these trees bring the tannin into the rivers.
Warmer weather starts today and through the week and with it will come the hatches. There might be a few thunderstorms in the area on Thursday and / or Friday so be mindful of the conditions. All in all the week should prove to be a good week to go deep into your fly box and enjoy those flies not used in a year. Drakes, Cahills, Quills, and of course Hendricksons, BWOs, Trudes and Wulffs. All should have some success as the mayflies are hatching. The dry fly season is here.
