If you were a trout you would be enjoying the weather. Temperatures in the rivers rose to 67-68 F this past holiday weekend. Almost to the point of making me move to late night fishing. River levels began to drop. However, suddenly the day time air temperatures plummeted to the low 50's F and the water rose. Rain, and more rain brought the levels up and cooled our streams. The weather pattern is keeping the rivers oh so healthy.
This year the rivers are ready for a mid-summer heat wave. They will not suffer as in recent years. Ground spring water will feed the rivers if a drought should hit the north. The norther jet stream is keeping the water shed high and cool.
The fly fishing is great! The weather is on and off rain. You will have to duck the wet weather but it is worth it. The hex hatch is on and should last at least another week. May fly patterns size 14-16 hook size work early in the afternoon, with the 6-8 hex as the dark settles in.
All your house guests are gone, so what are you waiting for?
