Summer is officially here and the rivers and air temperatures, for northern Michigan, prove it. Long days and warm water are the challenge. The hex hatch is moving up the state and the rivers are in great shape...but the weekend thunderstorms will be a problem. You have to watch for them, hope they are small and don't blow out the rivers.
A cornucopia of bugs are on the trout menu and in the rivers. The main three bugs are all active; mayflies, stoneflies, and caddis. Your fly box should have them all in various stages and sizes.
Let me reiterate ...Thunderstorms! Watch for them...Cast away!
